This Week's Musing

We spend so much time waiting for the “big moments” in life. Our high school graduation, our wedding day, that big promotion at work.

Once you have kids it’s no different. We look forward to the day they finally sleep through the night, or when they take their first steps. We celebrate when they start Kindergarten, and dream of the day when they’ll be able to drive themselves to after school activities.

We spend so much time waiting and counting down the minutes for life’s milestones to arrive without realizing that everything happening in between is what counts.

Frantic mornings packing school lunches. Wiping off sticky fingers and picking up spilled milk cups. Big hugs and sloppy kisses while you yell “have a great day!” as the teachers whisk them away.

Noisy houses full of joyful giggles, constantly messy with books and toys scattered across the floor.

Saturday mornings piled in bed, with a warm cup of coffee and cartoons playing in the background.

Neighborhood walks after dinner, exploring the color of the leaves or seeing who can spot the first star.

Countless everyday moments that make up a lifetime.

When we’re old and gray, we’ll look back and realize that these days are “the good old days”. Don’t rush the everyday moments while you’re waiting for the milestones.

Friday Favorite's

👚 My poor pajamas are threadbare, so I’ve been on a mission to find new ones, but I don’t love the idea of spending $150 for a nightgown. So when I found these jogger pajama pants and sleep tees I bought 3 different sets, plus they’re on sale!

🍗 Chicken thighs are a weeknight go-to for us. They’re flavorful, and forgiving if you overcook them, and easy to pair with a variety of side dishes for a quick dinner. This week we found this Honey Dijon Grilled Chicken Thigh recipe and it was full of flavor and delicious!

🔦 We’ve been trying to put our phones away before bed, and read books instead. I bought these rechargeable book lights and am loving that I can stay up and read later, without bothering Brandon.

Happy Friday, Friends! I hope y’all have a great weekend!

Love Briana
