You’re reading Modern Motherhood Musings, a weekly newsletter written from one mom to another. Each week I share an honest reflection on motherhood, and a collection of things bringing me joy. I’m passionate about community, and I hope that by sharing our stories, we all feel a little less alone. Some links in this newsletter are affiliate links. This Week's Musing

It’s been an emotionally draining week, and I’m physically and mentally exhausted. My husband’s been traveling for work, our youngest is battling Croup, and I’m sitting in the grief of the results from the election.

So tonight, I’m choosing to give myself the grace of leaving this newsletter short and sweet.

I know that a lot of us are struggling right now. Many of us are fighting battles that others don’t even see or know about. The world feels heavy, and dark, and a bit unstable.

I keep thinking about what has gotten me through times like this in the past, and time and time again the answer has been community. In our hardest moments, our tendency is to isolate, but I want to encourage you to fight that instinct with everything you have and find your people.

We weren’t made to carry the burdens of this journey alone.

This week has been hard, but I have connected more deeply than I have in a long time with so many like-minded women. These moments of “I see you, I’m with you” have filled me up and kept my head above water when I wanted to let the waves consume me.

This weekend I want to encourage you to find your people. Cherish them. Be vulnerable. Share some tears and some laughs together. Let them be your glimmer when the world feels dark.

🎙️ You have to tune into the Pod Save America podcast. A political podcast for people who aren’t ready to give up or go insane.

📘 I’m listening to Be Ready When The Luck Happens, Ina Garten’s memoir and it’s been such an enjoyable book. I have learned so much about her life pre-Barefoot Contessa, and I’m fascinated by all the experiences she’s lived.

🎭 Because we all need a little humor right now, Seth Meyers: Lobby Baby is one of the funniest stand up comedy specials I’ve ever watched. It’s a few years old now, but really great.

Your words of wisdom, best piece of advice, and favorite hacks can make a difference in another mom’s journey. What has helped you survive this season? Email me to have your advice featured in an upcoming newsletter.

If you have a toddler who resists diaper changes, give them an electric toothbrush to hold while you change their diaper. It’ll immediately distract them!

Happy Friday, Friends! I am SO thankful for this Modern Motherhood community!
